Give the assistant a concrete job

Use your connected assistant for the work in front of you: a shortlist of opportunities that fit your company, a breakdown of an agency's buying history, a brief on an incumbent or teaming partner, or a reading of a solicitation and its amendments with citations. When you want a result saved or a record changed in G2X, say where it belongs. Have the assistant check that the action is supported, then report what it actually saved and link to the result.

First connect your client and complete a small data request. The GovCon MCP skill helps select a workflow. Name the decision your research should support.

Your connection's available tools and your G2X seat determine what can be done. The assistant should inspect supported inputs, return evidence and record links, distinguish conclusions from source facts, and say which requested steps remain incomplete.

Choose the analysis and where to save it

Ask your assistant to reason with its own model using the G2X evidence it retrieves. Reuse existing G2X analysis when it answers the question. Request a new G2X analysis only when you specifically want G2X to perform that work.

Creating a workspace, adding a document to a library, or recording a bid decision can also start analysis in G2X. Before taking an action with that effect, the assistant should explain it and get your choice. If the connection cannot read or save the requested material without starting new analysis, keep working with the available evidence and retain the draft in your assistant. A request to read or save is not permission to run new analysis.

For a supported save, choose the destination first and check the resulting G2X record before reporting completion. A file or draft returned in chat has not necessarily been saved in G2X.

Find and qualify opportunities

Try: “Find three VA information technology opportunities relevant to our capabilities. Compare deadlines, set-asides, and requirements. Cite the records and identify what we still need to check.”

g2x_search_opportunities supports a topical shortlist. Where available, g2x_query provides structured queries; the assistant should read its help for supported sources and filters. Attachment search and opportunity search answer different questions.

Keep open opportunities, forecasts, and past awards distinct. A forecast is an early signal; a past award is buying history. Neither proves that a solicitation is open. Check the record's business dates before deciding to pursue it.

A short result list is a sample. For a market total, ask for the matching count and supported pages, with the filters stated. If the connection cannot provide a complete set, label the result as partial.

Research a company or incumbent

Try: “Research Leidos as a potential incumbent for this requirement. Resolve the company identity first, then summarize relevant awards with source links.”

Use g2x_search_companies with the legal name or DBA. Several entities may share a brand. Compare returned identity details before combining awards, contacts, or corporate-family records.

A website or UEI can help distinguish candidates, but this guide does not promise an exact website or UEI search option. Use an identifier lookup only when the connected tool explicitly supports it. A name search derived from a website produces candidates, not proof of a domain match. Resolve ambiguous identity before continuing.

Use award and agency evidence to explain an incumbent or teaming recommendation. Similar names, shared industry codes, or a company-graph connection do not establish a teaming relationship.

Read a solicitation or compare amendments

Try: “Read the scope and evaluation sections for this opportunity. Cite the document version and pages. List amendment changes separately from your interpretation.”

Use g2x_opportunity_attachment_text to read a document already on file in G2X. The default is the complete stored document: request format: "markdown" for readable text or format: "json" for structured pages and elements. Set page only when you want a single page. Preserve document names, versions, and page references.

If the result includes a next_cursor, continue with that cursor until the document is complete before describing it as a whole-document read. A page, excerpt, or list of attachment names is not the complete document.

Check the document version, tables, and citations against the original source when the decision depends on them. Reading one stored document does not establish that you have every attachment or amendment. If stored content is unavailable, use the original document link or open the attachment in G2X. Do not reconstruct a supposed complete document from a summary or start new analysis just to obtain it.

For existing analysis, retrieve the saved result where supported. Reading a result and requesting new analysis are different tasks. If no saved-result read is available, explain that limit and continue with the available source material. Start new analysis only when you specifically choose it. Review sources and remaining requirements before a bid decision or submission.

Organize the next action

The connection may support fewer account actions than the G2X app. Use the app to review or remove watched records, manage saved searches, and create or update pipeline items and notes. An assistant must not simulate an unavailable action and report it as saved.

• Watch a record or manage a watchlist.
• Save a search and set up available alerts.
• Build and manage a pipeline.

For supported G2X CRM actions, resolve the intended account or contact before changing it. Research does not authorize adding a CRM record. When you request a change, ask for the resulting link and a readback of changed fields. If the response is uncertain, inspect the record before retrying to avoid duplicates.

Understand access and limits

Use G2X pricing for current access. GovCon MCP uses your G2X account and per-seat permissions. It does not grant another person's access or establish a separate MCP product tier. Check which account-usage capability your connection offers. Where g2x_usage is available, ask it for session and weekly Lumen usage and reset times. If it is not offered or cannot return a usage result, open your G2X account menu. Do not infer a shared usage allowance from the connection or estimate a balance from the number of tool calls.

Keep requests bounded to the records and fields you need. Follow each tool's limits and any instruction to wait before retrying. A denied request, a partial page, and an empty successful search mean different things. Your G2X agreement's usage and redistribution terms continue to apply.
