How to verify a company's role in a government contract win

Market Intelligence

Match a company's announcement to the legal recipient and original award record before deciding what the win means for a competitor or teaming prospect.

To verify a company's role in a government contract win, match its statement to the legal recipient, contract number and award type in the government's record. Then determine whether the statement concerns a contract vehicle, an order for particular work or a subcontract. Keep anything that the sources do not establish explicitly unresolved.

This matters when you are deciding whom to approach as a teammate or how a competitor has entered an account. A corporate announcement may accurately describe a win while leaving out the detail your decision requires: which subsidiary holds it, what work has been ordered or whether another company participates as a supplier.

Start with the company's exact claim

CACI's NASA SEWP VI contract page, checked on October 10, 2026, identifies CACI, Inc.-Federal, UEI N3PBJAVNKF61, and contract 80TECH26D1883 in Category B. The Unique Entity ID, or UEI, helps distinguish that legal entity from other businesses in the CACI group.

Those details are a starting point for verification. They are more useful than searching only for the corporate brand because the government record may use the subsidiary's legal name. Preserve the contract number exactly and record what the company actually says about its role.

In G2X's CACI, Inc.-Federal profile, the same name and UEI appear in the profile and Business Information section. The profile also provides Contract Vehicles and Contract Awards views for further research. Use the company research guide if you are starting from a name search. Directory lookup is a manual research path available in G2X's free Community Edition.

Read the award relationship in the original record

The direct USAspending award record identifies CACI, INC. - FEDERAL with UEI N3PBJAVNKF61 as the recipient of that NASA indefinite-delivery vehicle. This supports a specific conclusion: that legal entity is the recipient on this vehicle record. It does not establish every role that a parent, affiliate or commercial partner may play.

NASA's June 22, 2026 SEWP VI announcement describes indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contracts and says ordering begins November 1, 2026. The distinction matters on this article's October 10 publication date: holding the vehicle is evidence of an ordering path, while a claim about particular delivered work needs the relevant order and performance evidence.

The award record's reported obligation was $0.00 when checked. That is the value on this vehicle record at the check time, not a claim about CACI's company-wide revenue or the eventual value of SEWP VI work. Keep a vehicle ceiling, a reported obligation and a company's revenue in separate fields; they answer different questions.

Resolve teammate claims separately

A company can participate in a program without appearing as the recipient of its prime contract. If an announcement says the company joined a team, provided technology or will support a prime, retain that attributed description while looking for the underlying relationship. A prime award record usually cannot settle the scope of a separate commercial agreement.

For a potential teammate, the next useful question is specific: which legal entity holds the contract, and what work or access would the proposed relationship actually provide? Ask for the relevant contract or order reference and a description the company is authorized to share. An absent public subcontract record leaves the relationship unverified; it is not proof that no relationship exists.

Record your conclusion at the level supported by the evidence. For the CACI example, the matching legal identity and NASA vehicle record support “vehicle recipient.” They do not establish that another company has a subcontract or that CACI has won a particular future order under that vehicle.

If you are comparing several public announcements, you can bring them into G2X Lumen to extract names, identifiers and claimed roles when your account has access. Treat that as help organizing the comparison, then check each conclusion against the originals. Current account limits apply, and the same comparison can be completed manually.

You should finish with a short, sourced statement your team can use: who holds what, which record proves it and what remains to ask. That gives a teaming conversation or competitor assessment a reliable starting point.

For agents

Verify the legal entity and award relationship behind a contract-win claim

  • A signed-in G2X account, original company statement and original government award record. Exact legal identity and award identifiers are required; public coverage may not establish subcontract relationships.
  1. Extract the exact company claim

Read https://www.caci.com/contract/nasa-sewp-vi and preserve the statement as a vendor claim. Record CACI, Inc.-Federal, UEI N3PBJAVNKF61, Category B and contract 80TECH26D1883. Do not substitute a parent or affiliate identity.

  2. Confirm the entity in G2X

Open https://g2x.com/app/companies/N3PBJAVNKF61 and verify CACI, INC. - FEDERAL and its UEI in Business Information. See https://g2x.com/docs/understand-market/research-a-company for Directory name/UEI search and Contract Vehicles/Contract Awards views. Community includes the manual Directory path. G2X identity confirmation is separate from original award verification.

  3. Read the original vehicle record and dates

Read https://api.usaspending.gov/api/v2/awards/CONT_IDV_80TECH26D1883_8000/ and https://www.usaspending.gov/award/CONT_IDV_80TECH26D1883_8000. Match the recipient name, UEI and contract number. Preserve signed decimal total_obligation as $0.00 at the October 10 check, the IDV type and source time. NASA's original https://www.nasa.gov/news-release/nasa-awards-solutions-for-federal-enterprise-procurement-contracts/ says ordering begins November 1, 2026. A vehicle award is not a particular task order; do not turn ceilings or obligations into revenue.

  4. Keep other relationships unresolved without evidence

Compare the company's wording with the government recipient record. Record direct recipient, attributed subcontract/supplier claim, or unknown as supported. An absent subcontract record does not prove absence of a relationship. Request a specific legal entity, contract/order reference and authorized role description before relying on a teaming-access claim.

  5. Use optional document comparison and return a sourced conclusion

Illustrative prompt: "Compare this company statement with the original award record. Extract exact legal name, UEI, contract number, vehicle or order type, claimed role, supported role and unresolved relationships. Cite each conclusion. Keep ceiling, signed obligations and revenue separate." Return the evidence-linked conclusion and one next verification question. Expected result: A supported statement of who holds which vehicle/order, with exact identifiers, source dates and unresolved teammate claims. No inferred subcontract, performance endorsement or executed AI demonstration.
