What’s hot on the GovCon calendar: logistics research, government-and-industry connections, AI, and Army conversations.
What’s drawing attention on the GovCon calendar? This daily roundup looks at community interest on The GovCon Calendar over the last 24 hours. Explore ten upcoming events, from DLA’s research priorities and GovJam’s evening connections to government AI, Army leadership, and practical business-development workshops.
1. DLA R&D Collider Day
DLA’s research and development community meets at the Hilton Alexandria Mark Center on September 9 to discuss supply-chain speed, precision, and innovation. The program brings government, industry, and academia together around the agency’s logistics challenges and research priorities.
Matchmaking and interactive breakouts give the day a collaborative format. It is a focused setting for defense-logistics companies, technology developers, researchers, and government program staff interested in where their work overlaps.
2. GovJam 2026
RockITGov’s GovJam returns to American Prime in McLean on September 10, combining government-and-industry networking with a James Brown-themed live-music showcase. The evening runs from 5 to 10 p.m. and is aimed at IT professionals and contractors across the GovCon community.
This is an informal relationship-building event rather than a procurement briefing. Registration has separate government and industry ticket categories.
3. Government & AI Summit 2026
GovExec’s September 15 summit at the JW Marriott in Washington brings federal leaders, technologists, and researchers together around the practical use of AI and automation. The program connects generative AI and cyber defense with governance, edge computing, and other emerging technologies.
The day includes a full summit program, breakouts, and breakfast networking. Its emphasis is on how government uses these technologies in mission settings, with ethical AI governance among the central themes.
4. Business Development 101 for Government Contractors - In-Person Event
The Alabama SBDC Network’s September 10 workshop at Huntsville’s Jackson Center covers the groundwork for selling to government: identifying target markets, researching agencies and competitors, and turning that research into a business-development plan.
Capability statements, past performance, pipeline development, and relationships with agencies and primes are part of the agenda. A HASBAT membership luncheon is also listed, with separate registration and ticket requirements.
5. Coffee Series Featuring LTG Edmond Brown
AUSA’s September 29 Coffee Series in Arlington features LTG Edmond Brown in a discussion centered on T2COM and Army priorities. The smaller breakfast format combines informal coffee and networking with opening remarks and a leadership conversation.
The agenda includes audience questions as time allows at the General Gordon R. Sullivan Conference & Event Center. It brings together Army personnel, government civilians, and defense-industry participants around a shared command-level discussion.
6. Coffee Series Featuring LTG Frank Lozano
LTG Frank Lozano is the featured guest for AUSA’s November 4 Coffee Series at the General Gordon R. Sullivan Conference & Event Center in Arlington. The discussion focuses on Army Fires and portfolio acquisition, connecting modernization priorities with the way the Army organizes acquisition work.
Breakfast networking is followed by the discussion and Q&A. The program is designed for military and civilian government personnel, AUSA members, and industry participants connected to Army missions.
7. From Data to Decisions: AI and the Future of Federal Research Intelligence
GovExec’s September 22 webinar looks at how federal research organizations can connect publications, patents, clinical trials, and other evidence to make better portfolio decisions. AI-assisted research intelligence is the central theme, from evaluating investment and scientific impact to finding experts and collaborators.
The virtual session also covers research-security due diligence and trustworthy AI governance. It speaks to both government research managers and the analytics and scientific-information teams supporting them.
8. Hot Topic - T2COM
AUSA’s November 17 Hot Topic program centers on T2COM, with two keynote slots, four panels, and networking periods at its Arlington conference center. The format brings military personnel, government civilians, and AUSA’s defense-industry community into a broader Army discussion.
Coffee, breaks, and lunch are built into the program. It offers a different format from the Coffee Series: a longer panel-led gathering with multiple opportunities for participants to compare perspectives.
9. Mastering the Art of Business Development® Workshop
NDIA’s two-day workshop on September 16–17 at its Arlington headquarters teaches the MBDi business-development process. The curriculum moves from core competencies and opportunity identification into intelligence gathering, client engagement, and qualification.
Later modules use diagnostic interviewing and decision criteria to help participants understand customer needs. The classroom format is intended for defense-sector business-development professionals, with breakfast and lunch providing time for peer discussion.
10. Mississippi Digital Government Summit 2026
Government Technology’s September 9 summit in Flowood brings Mississippi public-sector IT leaders and industry partners together around AI governance, cyber resilience, and data modernization. Sessions connect the state’s technology strategy with the practical work of cloud migration, analytics, workforce development, and organizational change.
An industry-partner briefing specifically addresses procurement and state IT priorities. The program at the Sheraton Flowood also includes exhibit-area breaks and a reception, alongside perspectives from Mississippi’s IT and agency leadership.
