10 Trending GovCon Events on G2X | September 2, 2026
Ten upcoming GovCon events drawing attention on the G2X calendar, with date, location, audience, and program context for each listing.
AI runs through nearly every listing in this edition, and the useful distinction is who gets into the room. GovCIO Media & Research's Health IT Summit in Bethesda puts EHR modernization and AI strategy in front of federal health leaders, while FedScoop's FedTalks fills a Washington stage with technology executives from OMB, CISA, the CIA, and GSA. The HHS 2030 Summit in Oklahoma City is invitation-only and tied to program membership, which makes it qualified access rather than a conference to register for. Two sessions are built squarely for small-business capture work: GSA's virtual walkthrough of its Forecast of Contracting Opportunities Tool and the VA's virtual NCO 16 business opportunity session for SDVOSBs and VOSBs. Defense buyers concentrate in mid-September at National Harbor and Fort Benning, where the listed Fort Benning registration options are exhibit marketing packages priced from $3,495 to $6,495. And one hybrid conference this fall aims at contractor finance teams working on AI governance, data readiness, and vendor selection.
1. Health IT Summit
GovCIO Media & Research's Health IT Summit runs September 2 at the Bethesda Marriott, and the draw is direct access to federal health leaders working on EHR modernization and AI strategy. The agenda covers EHR modernization, data interoperability and frameworks, AI in health care, cybersecurity, and telehealth, closing with the Flywheel Awards presentation. Organizers list the Department of Veterans Affairs, the United States Postal Service, and the National Science Foundation among agencies represented, and say attendees can earn up to five CPE credits. The format is in person, with federal health leaders and innovators as the intended audience. For anyone selling into VA health IT, the mix of a modernization agenda and CPE credit makes a single Bethesda day easy to justify.
2. HHS 2030 Summit 2026
Global True North runs the HHS 2030 Summit October 19 and 20 at the Omni Oklahoma City, in partnership with Governing and Government Technology, and access is the first thing to understand. The forum is invitation-only for eligible public-sector health and human services leaders, open to HHS 2030 Program members and program partners. The program pushes modernization past culture and policy into delivery, covering public-private-civic collaboration, person-centered service delivery, emerging technology use cases, evidence and outcomes, implementation infrastructure, organizational culture, and policymaker alignment. Organizers describe the audience as public-sector HHS agency executives and program leaders, including technology leaders working on transformation, service delivery and outcomes. Contractor-side growth teams should treat it as a qualified-access opportunity tied to membership or partnership, not a general conference for proposal managers or delivery staff.
3. FedTalks 2026
FedScoop's FedTalks returns to Washington on November 17 as a hybrid program, billed by the organizer as the largest annual gathering of C-level executives and innovators in federal technology. The speaker list is the reason to look early: OMB Deputy Director Eric Ueland on winning the AI race, CISA Acting Director Dr. Madhu Gottumukkala on security in the age of AI, GSA CIO Dave Shive on scaling IT modernization, and CIA Deputy CIO for Information Technology Enterprise Ryon Klotz on applications of commercial technologies in the intelligence community. Sessions from Salesforce, SAP, and Splunk executives fill out the industry side. Coverage spans AI, cybersecurity, cloud, quantum computing, digital services, and zero trust. FedScoop pitches the day as access to decision-makers at OMB, CISA, and the Defense Department on multi-billion-dollar priorities including AI adoption and zero-trust migration.
4. OSB First Friday training: Forecast of Contracting Opportunities Tool
GSA's OSB First Friday workshop on September 11 is a virtual, hands-on session on the Forecast of Contracting Opportunities Tool, and the payoff is earlier visibility into federal requirements. The training covers navigating the federal marketplace, searching the forecast tool with filters and keywords, and interpreting the opportunity information it returns. GSA aims it at small businesses and contractors, particularly capture, business development, and proposal staff who need a repeatable way to narrow the marketplace for pipeline research. Set expectations accordingly: this is training rather than a buyer briefing, teaming event, or delivery-focused course, and no agency speakers or procurement officials beyond GSA as organizer are identified. For a capture lead building a small-business pipeline, the tool mechanics are the entire value proposition.
5. 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference
The Air & Space Forces Association holds its 2026 Air, Space & Cyber Conference September 14 through 16 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, with more than 40 sessions and nearly 300 exhibitor booths. Content centers on air and space dominance, force development and sustainment, cyber capabilities, and emerging military requirements and technologies. The Defense Department is the identified agency stakeholder, and the audience runs to military leaders, defense contractors, government stakeholders, and organizations working on air, space and cyber technologies. Contractors can work the session program to assess emerging requirements and technology priorities across those missions, then use the exhibit halls to find partners and put relevant technology in front of prospective customers.
6. 2026 Fort Benning Maneuver Warfighter Conference
Federal Business Council's Maneuver Warfighter Conference runs September 15 through 17 at McGinnis-Wickam Hall, the Maneuver Center of Excellence headquarters at Fort Benning, and it is built for vendors who want Army requirement owners in front of them. Organizers promise direct access to program managers, acquisition leaders, capability developers, and operational commanders working on readiness, mobility, protection, lethality, and sustainment, with content spanning defense IT, robotics, AI, autonomy, survivability, and mobility. The published registration options are exhibit marketing packages: $3,495 for an indoor tabletop space, $4,495 for a standard indoor or outdoor space, and $6,495 for a gold package that adds four passes to the Icebreaker Reception. That reception is the listed networking element on the agenda.
7. ACT-IAC Cybersecurity COI September 2026
ACT-IAC convenes its Cybersecurity COI on September 10, hybrid from WWT in Washington, and the headline is a DISA leadership readout. Dr. Brian Hermann, DISA's Portfolio Acquisition Executive for Cyber, is set to share observations from the defense community on defending systems in the age of agentic AI, followed by a federal-industry member forum. The audience skews to COI members, federal cybersecurity program and technology leaders, and defense-cyber capture or delivery staff, and the program stays a focused cybersecurity and AI discussion, not a proposal workshop, contracting forecast, or set-aside briefing. For defense IT contractors, the hour buys a direct look at how a senior DISA acquisition leader frames cyber defense priorities and agentic AI.
8. Federal Leader’s Guide to the CAIO and CDO
Federal News Network's virtual Federal Leader's Guide to the CAIO and CDO runs September 15 through 17, gathering agency AI, data, acquisition, and technology leaders from defense, health, regulation, and diplomacy. Speakers come from Army Communications-Electronics Command, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and the State Department, with industry perspectives from SAP, Qlik, and SAS. Sessions concentrate on Chief AI Officer and Chief Data Officer priorities, data governance, generative AI implementation, and mission-critical government technology strategies. No solicitations, formal networking, or small-business programming are identified, so the return here is a cross-agency read on how federal organizations are scaling AI, governing data, and moving generative AI from strategy into mission use. HHS's senior procurement executive gives the program its acquisition angle.
9. Save the Date - VHA Procurement & Logistics Office (P&LO) Regional Program Office (RPO) Central (NCO 16) Quarterly Virtual Business Opportunity Session
The VA runs its quarterly NCO 16 business opportunity session on September 23 over Cisco WebEx, organized through the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization's Direct Access Program. The subject is the VHA Procurement & Logistics Office's Regional Program Office Central and what it buys: construction, architectural services, engineering services, healthcare, and maintenance and repair. The session is built around SDVOSB, VOSB, and other small-business opportunities, which makes it most useful to capture and business development leads at veteran-owned and small firms targeting VHA facilities or medical equipment repair work. This is not a technology-executive forum or a post-award delivery briefing. Mapping the regional office's procurement focus, and picking out the requirements worth qualifying, is the practical takeaway.
10. 2026 AI Conference
The Greater Washington Society of CPAs stages its 2026 AI Conference on October 13 in hybrid format, aimed at finance and accounting teams inside government contractors. Sessions cover AI governance, risk, and workflow integration, then deployment, change management, and data governance, built-in AI capabilities and vendor selection, a real-world panel, and live demonstrations of monthly close and custom agents. Organizers cite Microsoft Copilot used for financial analysis and regulatory review among the demonstrations, and close with a strategic leadership and AI roadmap workshop. Corporate finance, public accounting, and nonprofit leaders are also listed in the intended audience. Registration is $400.00 for members and $500.00 for non-members.
