Top 10 Federal Contract Opportunities: October 8, 2026
The top 10 federal contract opportunities the G2X community researched most over the last 24 hours.
Explore the top 10 federal contract opportunities in yesterday’s G2X community research. Healthcare acquisition training, mission IT and command-and-control research are among the requirements drawing attention. The roundup explains what each buyer is seeking and where the work stands in the acquisition process.
1. VA medical-device cybersecurity acquisition training
VA’s Technology Acquisition Center is gathering information on live training that connects medical-device cybersecurity with the work of buying healthcare technology. The course would serve engineers, contracting officers and other acquisition professionals, using connected-device architecture, interoperability and patient-safety scenarios to explain how security concerns affect requirements, evaluations and acceptance.
The planned instruction runs through Microsoft Teams, with no more than 24 training hours and approximately 20–25 students per class. Practical exercises, accessible materials, attendance records and completion certificates are part of the requirement. The focus is not simply recognizing vulnerabilities: learners must understand what to ask VA customers and vendors throughout the technology lifecycle. This is market research, with responses due October 21 under solicitation number 36C10B27Q0031.

2. USAISR IT support services
The U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research needs IT support for the systems its staff and research mission use at Joint Base San Antonio–Fort Sam Houston. Through the Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity, the Defense Health Agency is gathering capabilities across five areas: desktop support, research-and-imaging system administration, virtual infrastructure, mission-server administration, and internet, intranet and SharePoint sustainment.
The requirement covers hands-on user support as well as the infrastructure behind it. That includes moving user data to replacement computers, maintaining virtual networks and storage, and using DHA-approved monitoring tools to check server availability and performance. Responses may address one or more functional areas. Capability statements are due October 9 under solicitation number HT9426-27-LBA-01-RFI; this sources-sought stage does not request a priced proposal.

3. VA NetApp maintenance recompete
VA’s Office of Information and Technology is researching support for NetApp storage already deployed across the department. The Technology Acquisition Center’s requirement combines hardware and software maintenance with hard-drive retention, protecting the systems that support virtualization, file shares, and medical and administrative data.
The draft describes a 12-month base period and one 12-month option, with optional training credits and support-account-manager services. Maintenance includes response and resolution reporting, monthly uptime reporting, and asset-specific coverage rather than one uniform response time for every device. VA is asking vendors to explain their capabilities and technical approach against the draft product description and equipment list in a brief limited to ten pages. Responses are due October 9 under solicitation number 36C10B27Q0024. The current action is market research.

4. AFRL artificial intelligence and distributed command and control
Air Force Research Laboratory’s Information Directorate is accepting research concepts through an open, two-step broad agency announcement for artificial intelligence and distributed command and control. The work connects deployed AI with mission planning: operators need to understand model performance, recognize when conditions change, and evaluate adaptations before sending updated models back into use.
The technical scope includes mission-driven AI workflows and a shared operating picture of models, platforms and performance. It emphasizes connecting existing frameworks and resources, not buying server farms or creating new communications networks. Individual technical areas have their own submission and closure instructions, so the overall announcement’s August 2028 end date is not a universal deadline for every topic. Solicitation number FA875023S7006 identifies the umbrella requirement; white papers precede invited full proposals.

5. Forest Service Sand Creek Road cultural-site evaluation
The Forest Service is seeking an archaeological evaluation of 25 previously identified cultural sites along roughly six miles of Sand Creek Road in North Dakota. The work supports the McKenzie Ranger District of Dakota Prairie Grasslands and combines field investigation with the documentation needed to evaluate cultural resources.
Phase-one work includes shovel testing, site remapping, artifact handling and curation, and a Class III Cultural Resource report that meets North Dakota historic-preservation guidelines. The contractor must obtain the required archaeological permit before fieldwork and provide the supporting digital records with the final report. Fieldwork is targeted for December, with final reporting due in June. Quotes are due October 20 under solicitation number 1284LM27Q0001. The planned award weighs technical strength, fair and reasonable pricing, and acceptable or neutral past performance.

6. AFRL JADPACT II Call 03: M-DASH
Air Force Research Laboratory is seeking software services for a live human-machine teaming demonstration under JADPACT II. Call 03 focuses on three linked battle-management functions: recognizing an actionable entity, matching available effectors and generating a battle course of action. The objective is to assess how software and battle managers work together in simulated scenarios.
Selected teams would bring their own hardware to Las Vegas for the January 25–February 4 demonstration and connect to government-provided interfaces. Assessment considers decision speed, quality and completeness; this is not a final-code-delivery requirement. Participants retain their intellectual property, while the government records messaging outputs and receives event reports. Technical and cost proposals are due October 21 under solicitation number FA238426SB007, with the approach explaining how the proposed services will perform in the live environment.

7. Tyndall range and operations support
The Air Force’s 325th Contracting Squadron is surveying capable 8(a) small businesses for range and operations support at Tyndall Air Force Base. The customer is the Air Force Civil Engineer Center’s AFCEC/CXA organization, whose work spans materials testing, an indoor ballistic range, fire training and testing facilities, and other test ranges.
The scope combines explosive-ordnance-disposal and range-safety expertise with instrumentation, video, electronics and fire-research support. Teams would prepare tests, collect and validate data, maintain equipment and coordinate work through the government’s tasking system. Test events require a mix of specialist personnel, and some support extends to off-site ranges. Responses are due October 22 under solicitation number FA481927CY001. This sources-sought notice is intended to establish capability in the 8(a) market, not to solicit bids.

8. NAWCAD WOLF technical and project-management support
Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division’s Webster Outlying Field is requesting industry feedback on draft technical and project-management support for its Airborne Systems Integration Division. The planned SeaPort-NxG requirement covers projects from initiation and planning through execution, monitoring and control, with acquisition support alongside the technical-management work.
Personnel would coordinate schedules, staffing, procurement and budgets with government project leads, while tracking labor and costs down to individual tasking and subtasks. The draft also calls for recurring financial and personnel reporting, compatible data exchange and reliable communications with the division. The notice identifies a small-business set-aside approach, but the current action is a draft RFO review rather than a request for priced offers. Feedback is due October 20 under solicitation number N0042127R1008.

The requirement covers PRINCE2, MSP and MoR training, moving learners from introductory knowledge to Practitioner level within five consecutive days.
The baseline is six courses per year, each for 16 delegates, with authorized course materials and official certification examinations. The provider must hold the relevant PeopleCert accreditation and supply qualified instructors and comparable past-performance evidence. A virtual-delivery option must preserve the course requirements without additional cost. Eligibility includes NATO-member nationality requirements for the contractor and key personnel. Proposals are due November 5 under solicitation number RFP-ACT-SACT-26-95.
