Top 10 Federal Contract Opportunities: October 4, 2026

Market Intelligence

Explore the top 10 federal contract opportunities the G2X community researched most over the last 24 hours.

The top 10 federal contract opportunities in yesterday’s G2X community research span military support, unmanned vessels, science infrastructure and digital preservation. Each entry explains the requirement and its acquisition stage, from open solicitations to requests for capabilities.

1. Ohio Army National Guard: catered meals at DSCC

The Ohio Army National Guard is requesting quotes for 5,680 meals for the 147th Regional Training Institute’s Basic Leader Course at Defense Supply Center Columbus. Service runs from October 13 through November 10, with breakfast, lunch and dinner quantities specified in the requirement.

The Guard’s Ohio USPFO contracting office plans one firm-fixed-price purchase order covering the entire requirement; partial quotes will not be considered. This is a total small-business set-aside for caterers, evaluated on past performance and price. Solicitation W9136427QA002 closes October 7 at noon Eastern, following an October 5 question deadline.

2. Navy: Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel integration and testing

The Navy’s Robotics and Autonomous Systems acquisition portfolio is seeking commercial and dual-use maritime systems for Medium Unmanned Surface Vessel Phase II integration and testing. Evaluation covers vessel maturity, compatibility with open-architecture autonomy, endurance, payload integration and the ability to scale production.

The current Call for Solutions replaces the previously announced Area of Interest. It sits under the Drone Marketplace Commercial Solutions Opening and remains open for five years, with rolling assessments beginning November 16. The notice identifies possible basic ordering agreements, prototype other transactions and subsequent production arrangements. Approved platforms can enter the maritime marketplace on drones.mil. The canonical notice retains solicitation number N0003926RR002; the resulting Call for Solutions is W58RGZ-26-S-C001-0008.

3. Navy: Long Endurance Electronic Decoy production

The Navy’s PAE Mission Systems contracting organization intends to procure fiscal 2027–2029 Long Endurance Electronic Decoy launch systems, countermeasures, engineering support and spares. The NAVSEA headquarters notice identifies Lockheed Martin as the intended sole source.

This is a presolicitation notice of intent, not a request for competitive proposals. Responsible sources may submit capabilities, proposals or quotations for the government’s consideration in deciding whether to compete the procurement. Subcontracting inquiries go to Lockheed Martin. Responses to solicitation N0002427R5533 are due October 5; the notice does not announce a completed award.

4. USGS EROS: chilled-water and condenser-water piping

The U.S. Geological Survey’s Earth Resources Observation and Science Center needs construction services to remove and replace chilled-water and condenser-water piping serving its 1996 building addition in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Reston Science Acquisition Branch is handling the small-business procurement.

The scope is the piping work identified in the statement of work. Cooling-tower replacement is already complete, and a third chiller is outside this contract. Earlier drawings document the design basis and existing conditions rather than expanding the requirement. Solicitation 140G0126Q0288 includes a site visit on October 6 at 9 a.m. local time and a response deadline of October 20.

5. DLA Land at Aberdeen: Chelton intercom components

DLA Land at Aberdeen is soliciting Chelton boxes and related components for the AN/VIC vehicle intercom system. The requirement includes intercommunication controls and a communications interface unit, with item-level quantities estimated across the ordering years.

Solicitation SPRBL126RA009 seeks a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a three-year base and two option years. That structure separates the long-term supply arrangement from individual orders. The response deadline is October 28 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. The listed quantities are estimates, not a statement that every unit has already been ordered.

6. NSF X-Labs: independent teams for platform-technology research

The National Science Foundation’s Directorate for Technology, Innovation and Partnerships is seeking teams to establish autonomous X-Labs around ambitious platform-technology missions. The work is organized around topic announcements and full-time, interdisciplinary research teams, with independence over staffing, funding, partnerships and day-to-day decisions central to the model.

The stored opportunity analysis describes a two-step process: written proposals, followed by an oral proposal package for selected teams. Milestone-based phases connect funding to research progress and organizational readiness. NSF expects Other Transaction agreements—not FAR-based procurement contracts or financial-assistance awards. Solicitation NSF-OTASO-FY26-XLabsInitative remains open through May 14, 2028; the applicable topic announcement also governs a team’s submission. The requirement is to create and operate the research organization, not simply add a project to an existing institutional program.

7. Library of Congress: high-density optical storage pilot

The Library of Congress is seeking a pilot that places one terabyte of digital preservation material onto novel high-density optical media, then validates encoding, storage, decoding and recovery. The collection includes video, audio, images and text. The contractor must return the preserved collection and demonstrate bit-for-bit recovery, including access to individual files or manageable subsets.

The stored analysis distinguishes a minimum 50-year media-integrity requirement from a one-year contractor support period. It also calls for biweekly reporting, an assessment of scaling to petabyte volumes and a small, offline educational display. No Library network access is required. Solicitation 030ADV27R0004 closes October 27, with the base performance period running February 2027 through January 2028. This is a preservation-and-validation project, not a general-purpose storage hardware purchase.

8. Forest Service: Carson National Forest road maintenance

The Forest Service is requesting quotes for RTLSA road maintenance on the Carson National Forest. Solicitation 127EAX26Q0102 is a small-business acquisition under the highway, street and bridge construction industry classification, with responses due October 22.

Participation is limited to responsible contractors already on the New Mexico Forest Engineering and Roads Maintenance blanket purchase agreement in Zone 1. It is not an open competition for every small construction business. Although categorized as a special notice, the description explicitly requests quotations and serves as the solicitation for this requirement.

9. BLM Oregon: Tioga Pedestrian Bridge rehabilitation

The Bureau of Land Management’s Oregon State Office is seeking rehabilitation of the Tioga Pedestrian Bridge. The stated work is timber resealing, using copper naphthenate and linseed/pine-tar treatments.

Environmental containment is an explicit part of the requirement: the application must protect surrounding natural resources. Solicitation 140L4326Q0120 is a combined synopsis/solicitation, with responses due October 15 at 5 p.m. Pacific. The requirement concerns treatment of the existing bridge, not construction of a new crossing.

10. USGS National Water Quality Laboratory: wastewater controls

The U.S. Geological Survey’s National Water Quality Laboratory is gathering capability statements to replace an aging computerized wastewater monitoring and control system. Its laboratory relies on the system to track discharges and maintain environmental compliance; replacement work must minimize downtime during installation and cutover.

The Denver acquisition office describes new monitoring screens, alarms, data logging and integration with existing Allen-Bradley controllers and proprietary logic. The scope includes software, programming, installation, testing, documentation and operator training, using Inductive Automation software or an equivalent. This is market research, not a request for priced proposals, and the agency has not selected a small-business set-aside or full-and-open approach. Responses to sources-sought notice 140G0226Q0180 are due October 9 at 2:30 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time.
