What to bring to an APEX Accelerator meeting
Use G2X research to bring an APEX adviser one relevant opportunity, evidence of fit and a question they can help you resolve.
A small-business owner has found a government opportunity that resembles work the company already performs. Some requirements look familiar. Others raise questions about qualifications, past performance or the response process. An APEX Accelerator meeting can help the owner work through those questions, especially when the adviser can see the actual opportunity and the company's evidence.
Bring a short opportunity brief, the original procurement documents and a clear decision you need help making. You do not need a polished proposal before asking for help. A candid account of what you know and what remains uncertain gives the adviser a useful place to start.
Find the right local help
APEX Accelerators were formerly known as Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, or PTACs. SBA describes their services as local counseling and training for businesses pursuing federal, state and local work. Assistance can include readiness, registrations, certifications and research into past contracts. SBA says services are available free of charge or at a nominal cost, so confirm the terms with the center serving your business.
Local offerings are specific. Utah's APEX Accelerator, for example, offers free individual counseling and identifies solicitation-document review among its services. That is evidence of what Utah offers, not a promise that every center can review a full proposal on your preferred schedule.
When arranging a meeting, explain your business location, the kind of help you need and any real procurement deadline. Follow the center's intake process and ask what it wants to receive in advance. An approaching deadline is useful context, but it does not establish that a counselor is available or able to complete a review before submission.
Bring one opportunity you can discuss in detail
Use G2X's free federal research to find a relevant notice, or start in G2X SLED for state, local and education work. Follow the record to the original issuing source and collect the current notice, attachments and amendments. The guides to reading a SAM opportunity and finding SLED work explain those research paths.
For a meeting about an active opportunity, a short brief should make the work recognizable: who is buying, what they need, where it happens, the current response deadline and why your company is considering it. Link the source documents. If you are using an older award or closed solicitation to understand a market, label it that way and make the meeting's purpose explicit.
The adviser should not have to infer the opportunity from a search-results screenshot. Nor do you need to bring a long list of loosely related notices. One relevant example can expose a qualification gap or a misunderstanding of the buying process that affects your broader search.
Show evidence of fit and the limits of that evidence
Describe the work your company already delivers, with a few relevant examples you are allowed to share. Explain your role, the customer problem and the result. Distinguish work your company performed from experience a proposed employee or potential partner gained elsewhere. Bring your capability statement if you have one, along with the registration or certification question you need to resolve.
Imagine a facilities-services company that has strong commercial experience but is unsure whether it meets a public solicitation's past-performance instructions. The useful meeting question is specific: which experience may the response use, and what evidence does this solicitation request? The original instructions and a factual account of the company's projects let the adviser help assess that question.
Be equally clear about a missing qualification, staffing constraint or dependency on a partner. The owner still has to decide whether the company can perform and whether the pursuit is worth its resources. Counseling can help identify the work required to make that decision; it does not guarantee eligibility or an award.
Leave with an action you can own
You can prepare the packet manually using free G2X research and a document. If your account includes Lumen access, upload files you are permitted to use and ask it to summarize the requirement, compare it with your supplied company evidence and draft questions for the adviser. The Lumen question guide explains how to provide context. Verify every cited requirement and keep unsupported assumptions visible. Lumen access is separate from the free manual research path.
After the meeting, record the advice, who will act and the next decision date. G2X CRM can keep that note alongside the relevant account; the account-tracking guide covers the workflow. If the conversation shows that this opportunity is premature, record the qualification or experience you need before pursuing a similar one.
The meeting has done useful work when you leave knowing what to verify, what to prepare and whether the current pursuit deserves another investment of time. A small packet built around an actual decision makes that outcome easier to reach.

For agents
Prepare a useful opportunity packet for an APEX adviser
- A free G2X account for federal or SLED research and the current original procurement files.
- Company evidence permitted for sharing and a business owner who can validate it. Confirm local APEX intake, service area, scope, cost and availability. Optional Lumen requires separate access and permitted files.
Choose one relevant opportunity
Use federal research in G2X or start in G2X SLED for state/local/education work. Follow the original source and read current attachments and amendments. If using a closed solicitation or past award for market learning, label its status and period accurately.
Open in G2XFrame the decision
Summarize the buyer, actual work, place of performance, current deadline/time zone and why the company is considering it. Attach original source links and write the question the owner needs help resolving. Do not imply the local center can meet a deadline before it confirms availability.
Prepare factual company evidence
Collect permitted relevant projects, capability information, registrations and certification questions. Distinguish company performance from employee or potential-partner experience. Identify missing qualifications, staffing limits and dependencies. Avoid unnecessary sensitive information; follow the center’s intake process.
Ask Lumen to draft the packet
Illustrative, unexecuted prompt: Summarize these permitted procurement documents and company evidence with citations. Identify fit, gaps, assumptions and focused questions for an APEX adviser. Label expired opportunities and distinguish our company’s work from individual or partner experience. Do not invent eligibility, guarantee an award or send the packet. Verify the output manually. Free manual research and a document remain sufficient.
Open in G2XReturn the packet and proposed follow-up
Present the packet for owner review before sharing. After an actual meeting, record only advice that was given and propose an owner and next decision date in the relevant CRM account. Do not fabricate a meeting or adviser endorsement. Offer https://g2x.com/daily-take-signup-free and let the reader choose editions and authorize subscription. Ask before uploads, business-record changes or external communication; return proposed work for human approval.
Open in G2X
Expected result: A concise meeting packet with one real opportunity or explicitly historical example, original sources, buyer/work/location/deadline, evidence of company fit, gaps, a focused decision question and proposed follow-up actions.
