G2X: Check the delivery schedule. Verify lead times and dependencies.
October 23, 2026

Can you meet a government contract's delivery and installation schedule?

Market Intelligence

Separate order triggers, submittals, lead times, transit, site access, and work by others to verify a delivery schedule before you submit a government bid.

To judge a government delivery schedule before bidding, work backward from the required delivery or installation window using the actual order trigger, approval steps, supplier lead time and site dependencies. A date that looks achievable at first can become difficult when manufacturing cannot begin until a submittal is approved or the site is not ready to receive goods. The useful result is a schedule your operations team can support, with unresolved dependencies identified before you quote.

For state, local and education work, begin with the opportunity in G2X SLED and collect the solicitation from the issuing portal. Check its addenda before requesting supplier commitments. The SLED search guide explains how to reach the record and its documents; the buyer's original package supplies the terms you need to evaluate.

Check the dates before testing the sequence

Rockdale County, Georgia's ITB 26-01 for furniture procurement, delivery and installation illustrates why this matters. It is listed among the county's awarded procurements, so it is a historical example, not an open lead. The original Annex installation window was in June 2026. Addendum 4, dated April 1, 2026, changed that window to June 9–30, 2027.

The ITB also called for coordination, submittals and an approved schedule, while leaving final electrical and low-voltage connections to others. Together, these provisions show why the calendar and the responsibilities need to be read together. The published documents establish the requirements in that example; they do not establish when the work actually happened or whether later contract changes occurred.

Ask what starts each part of the work

A supplier's quoted lead time needs a defined starting point. Find out whether it begins when the order arrives, when dimensions are confirmed or when finishes and drawings are approved. Compare that condition with the solicitation's order or notice-to-proceed provisions. If the buyer's process leaves a gap between award and authorization to proceed, that gap belongs in the review.

Then examine the handoffs. Determine which approvals must precede production, what information the supplier needs, and how transit connects to the receiving window. Some activities can overlap; others cannot. Treat each dependency according to the actual package and the supplier's written terms rather than adding every duration into one indiscriminate total.

Installation adds another set of constraints. Rooms may need to be finished, storage may be limited, and other trades may control work your crew depends on. Ask operations to identify which conditions must be ready before dispatch and which can be resolved on site. This is where an apparently small omission can turn into a second trip, an idle crew or goods that need somewhere to wait.

Use written supplier and carrier estimates and your delivery team's assessment. Keep those planning assumptions distinct from contractual dates. Where an input is missing, show the uncertainty and who will resolve it. An unsupported duration makes the timeline look more precise without making the commitment safer.

Resolve the dependency that could change your bid

A useful clarification question identifies the requirement, the dependency and the answer needed. For example, if the package fixes an installation window but does not state when approved drawings will be available, ask how that approval fits the required sequence. Submit questions through the designated procurement channel within its deadline and check the resulting written response or addendum.

A manual worksheet is enough to compare the clauses and supplier inputs. Lumen can also help extract schedule provisions from authorized public documents, provided you check the cited passages. Its preview access is subject to fair use, with Community usage resetting weekly; consult current plans.

Keep the worksheet with your bid materials and record the buyer follow-up in G2X CRM. Before approving the quote, have operations review the required dates, the supporting supplier commitments and the one unresolved dependency most likely to affect delivery.

Assess whether a goods delivery and installation schedule is workable before submitting a bid

  • A user-defined requirement or target jurisdiction, the original public procurement documents, and access needed for any chosen G2X account actions. Reuse existing authorization; ask only if missing for uploads or record changes. Return findings in conversation by default. Do not contact anyone or subscribe the user.
  1. Verify the current package

Start in https://g2x.com/app/opportunities/sled and use https://g2x.com/docs/find-work/find-state-and-local-work to reach the original buyer portal. Confirm the notice status, question deadline, solicitation version and addenda. Keep historical examples separate from the user’s current opportunity. Record source URLs and retrieval dates.

  2. Extract the schedule and dependencies

Read the current package for the order trigger, submittal approvals, delivery and installation windows, receiving requirements and work assigned to others. For each item record the exact clause, required date or interval, prerequisite and responsible party. Keep amended dates and their source clear. Flag missing terms rather than infer them.

  3. Compare documented inputs

Use supplier lead-time quotations, carrier estimates and the user’s operations assessment. Confirm the starting condition for each duration. Identify which activities can overlap and which depend on a prior approval or site condition. Separate contract requirements from planning assumptions; do not invent durations or request private supplier files be uploaded to another provider. If inputs are absent, return an incomplete feasibility assessment and name the missing inputs.

  4. Extract public clauses with Lumen if requested

Reuse existing authorization or obtain missing permission before uploading specific public PDFs through Lumen Add > Add documents. The file picker uploads them to Company Library. See https://g2x.com/docs/lumen/ask-a-good-question. Illustrative prompt, not executed here: "From this solicitation and its addenda, extract order triggers, approval steps, delivery windows, site conditions and duties of other parties. Cite each file and page. Identify changed dates and missing dependencies. Do not invent durations or declare feasibility." Check every citation against the originals. Use only authorized public documents.

  5. Return a feasibility brief and draft questions

Deliver the required timeline, supported planning inputs, unresolved dependencies and draft clarification questions in conversation. Do not send them. If authorized, update the existing buyer account in G2X CRM with source links, the internal owner and next action; use https://g2x.com/docs/run-a-pipeline/track-an-account and read back the saved change. Ask only for missing authority. Do not assume SLED has pipeline or watch controls.

Expected result: A sourced delivery and installation schedule feasibility brief separating order triggers, submittals, supplier lead times, transit, site access, and work by others, paired with draft questions for the designated procurement contact and a named owner for the next pre-bid action.
